Schedule Post & Changing Post Order (Blogger)

Most people are not aware they can Schedule post. You can post something today and have it show up at a later date automatically. This is very useful when you want to post something when your out of town or cant make it online.

You can also change post dates to lock post in place on your blog. This would keep a older post at the top while newer post display under it.

How To Schedule Post:

  1. To schedule a post you must have the post unpublished. If you have already published it, save the post into a draft.
  2. In the post editor screen, just above  "Publish Post" and " Save Now", you will see "Post Options".
  3. Click this and it will expand a few options to choose from.
  4. On the right side you will see "Schedule at " . If you see "Set Time and Date" Then your post is published. You need to save it as a draft first.
  5. Just simply change it to the date and time you want it to publish.
  6. Publish the post as normal.
  7. Now if you go into the Edit Post (From the Dashboard) that shows all post. You should see a  Schedule  next to it in orange.

You will notice in the Edit Post screen the post will stay at the top of the list as scheduled in till it reaches the date. Once it reaches the date the post will publish its self automatically.
You can schedule post years in advance.

Keeping Post in Order:

Changing the date options is also usefully if you want a post to stay at the top of your blog even after you have published newer post. Or maybe you just want to keep all your post in order.

To do this you just need to publish the post as normal. Then go back into the post and  expand the Post Options.  You will see  "Set Time and Date". (If you see "Schedule at" then the post is unpublished. You will need to publish it first.)  Just change the date to what you want. And publish the post as normal.

Example:

If I have post by the names Post1, Post2, and Post3.

Lets say I post them with the dates below

  • Post1 01/01/18
  • Post2 01/01/17
  • Post3 01/01/20

Now on my home page the post will show up in this order

  • Post3
  • Post1
  • Post2

Even after I post a new post those 3 post will stay on top of my home page in till I reach the dates the post were changed to, or I change the newer post date to a date later then those post.

Keep in mind changing the post date will not only change the order they show up on your home page but also in your Edit Post screen.
