Thread Hijacking

We see a high number of people asking questions in someone else thread. Rather people think their question will get answer faster or they see a high level Blogger member in the thread. This is not the proper way to go about asking for help. In fact most high level Blogger members will not pay no mind to your question.

Why Do We Enforce This:

Blogger Help Forums tries to maintain a level of professionalism in their forums. When people hijack someones thread, this can be compared to jumping in the middle of someones conversation. You may also be side tracking the member by trying to deal with your issue along with the person who started the thread.

If people were to ask questions in other questions it would make the help forums impossibly to navigate and find what your looking for. Making each thread one long page with 100's of questions on questions. Have you every asked a question in Google search and pulled up unrelated results?  Well this is the same case here. We want people to be able to find what they are looking for.

Blogger help members may excel in different areas. While some maybe good with coding others maybe good with general support. If you were to hijack a thread, you are trying to impose the question on someone that may not know the answer. In some cases the member may know the answer to your question. But their maybe someone with better knowledge in that area. In all forums the members choose which questions to answer. Therefore you should not force them to answer your question.

If the member does not answer your question, your question may go unanswered. The forums are design to answer the question of the person that started the thread.   After the question has been answered, the thread will be closed. Even know the forums still permit comments in close thread, most people do not look in questions that have already been answered.

In some cases a thread maybe escalated to a Google employee. When this is done a support ticket is open. A support ticket can only be opened for the owner of the thread. The only time hijacking will be supported is in complication threads started by a Top Contributor or Google Employee.
