Adding Pages

Pages are basically a navigation bar that is great for helping your visitors navigate through your site. Pages also work great for web crawlers to index your post if used correctly. With a Page gadget you can add up to 10 stand alone pages. You can not link to outside links unless you use one of these tweak below.
Navigation Buttons or Post Links For Static Pages.

To add pages you must go to  Design--> Page Elements.
Once you are in your Page Elements you need to figure out if you want your pages to display in a horizontal or vertical row.

To display pages in the horizontal row you must add the Page gadget to the top element just below your header. For vertical rows you can add them anywhere else.

Once you have added your Page gadget they will come with a Home option in the gadget. To add more you need to go back to the Dashboard then go to Edit Post---> Edit Pages.  From here you can edit or add more pages to your blog.

If you need to change the order of how the pages display on your blog you will need to go back to Page Elements and click the Edit option on the Page gadget. You can drag and arrange the pages to your liking.

Note: You can only have 1 Page gadget on your blog with a maximum of 10 pages to this gadget. Now you can Add Multiple  Page Gadgets with a few tweaks, but you still can only have a maximum of 10 pages.

I want my pages list (navbar) to be horizontal ABOVE the header, but when I move it up there it changes to vertical, even though the area there is wide. Any suggestions?

Bx codes are generally caused by Google updating or fixing issues and are done in regions. Most cases the codes only appear for 48 hours or so. You don't have to start a new blog just give it sometime and it should fix its self. If you still have problems after 48 hours report the problem on the Blogger help forums.

Query: Once I've added pages how do I change the layout or are they all default as the home page. I wanted to put different content on sidebars and different template for background. I subscribe to your blog or my email is att347@yahoo.com

You can change the layouts to a extent on the static pages. For instance you can add a tweak to hide selected gadgets on pages of your choice.
This link below will explain how.
http://www.tweakmyblogger.com/2010/07/hide-widgetsgadgets.html

Now as far as the background goes you could use a background inside a HTML/javascipt widget as you see cutestblogontheblog and shabbyblogs do. Then use the tweak in the link above to only display the gadget on the static pages. This would have the image inside the gadget display over top of your current background.

Technically you can even hide the full sidebar altogether and then change the width of the main section of your blog on selected pages. But this is a very complicated tweak and I have yet to try it myself. I will try to get a post up about it soon as I test it myself.

I'm really confused here, i've craeted static pages and would love to post on them as well as the main page but it's not possible, any help?

You cant post to the pages as if it was a homepage where you have a list of post.... Well you could manually make a pages gadget and link labels into the gadget. This would allow your static pages to lead you to a page with multiple post. But if your just referring to how you can post to the pages, then you can check out this link

If I am understanding you correctly something like this below should do.

Design--> Template Designer--> Advanced--> Add CSS--> Input code below

#PageList1 a {
height: 50px;
}

adjust the 50px to your liking.

Is there a way to add a comments section for visitors to leave comments on the static pages (not the home page). A gadget or something? Thanks!

You can choose to hide the comments on post of your choosing. Just click the post options inside the post editor and you will see a option to hide comments.

Also I might suggest looking into forums for your blog. I have yet to add forums on this blog but they are a great feature for your visitors. You can use Google Groups or www.proboards.com which is a pretty good free forum.

So where exactly do I get a page gadget?

AiresOFwar said...

If you go to blogger and sign into your account you should be on the dashboard. From the dashboard you should see a Design option that will take you to the Page Elements pages. From their you will see Add Gadget options and the page gadget will be in there. If you are using a classic template you will not have a Design option in which gadgets can not be added the traditional way.
