To add meta tags you first need to find the best keywords for your blog with
Meta Tag Analyzer.
Once you have your keyword's go to Design--> Edit HTML
Scroll down not far from the top of your template and you will see this code below.
<head>
Just below the head code place this code.
<meta content='DESCRIPTION' name='description'/>
<meta content='20KEYWORDS' name='keywords'/>
<meta content='YOURNAME' name='author'/>
Now fill in the following.<meta content='20KEYWORDS' name='keywords'/>
<meta content='YOURNAME' name='author'/>
- DESCRIPTION
- 20KEYWORDS
- YOURNAME
Your keywords should have commas and spaces after the commas.
Example:
'Games, Cool, Fun, Sports, Play'
Some characters maybe rejected by Blogger template.
Use the Meta Tag Analyzer after your done to check your meta tags.
Keep in mind this will not appear immediately in the search engines. It takes time for the web crawlers to pick up the changes. At best guess it can take around a week or so and even up to a month for all the indexed pages within your blog.
Here is an example of what it might look like when your done.
<meta content='Tweaks, Hacks, Tips, and Tricks for Blogger to customize everything you want! We have many great tutorials with detailed instructions!' name='description'/>
<meta content='Blogger, Tweaks, Tips, Trick, Edits, Template, Blogspot, Favicon, Background, HTML Buttons, Amazon, Adsense, Ads, Hyperlinks, Page Rank, Backlinks' name='keywords'/>
<meta content='AiresOFwar' name='author'/>
<meta content='Blogger, Tweaks, Tips, Trick, Edits, Template, Blogspot, Favicon, Background, HTML Buttons, Amazon, Adsense, Ads, Hyperlinks, Page Rank, Backlinks' name='keywords'/>
<meta content='AiresOFwar' name='author'/>
i tried this an this was my error
ReplyDeleteYour template could not be parsed as it is not well-formed. Please make sure all XML elements are closed properly.
XML error message: The element type "meta" must be terminated by the matching end-tag "".
what does this mean
I posted the meta tag content you gave me in the Blogger Help forum under your question. I have tested the meta tag code I posted before I gave it too you. So it should work out.
ReplyDeleteI tried the code above and I got the same response that others did. I fixed it and it is now working. The problem: Remove the word code "head" because it is already defined in the html.
ReplyDeleteTHANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!! At last I found someone who helped me solve my problems. Bless you!
ReplyDeleteExcellent at first worked with just a copy and space then when added my key words etc failed again. Finally found where I was going wrong, I used the word "God's" had to take the little apostrophy out and worked fine. Thanks Heaps!
ReplyDeletethanks.
ReplyDeleteYour method to add tags to my blog was too simple to follow.
ReplyDeleteThanks.
I tried your method for adding a meta tag it worked great thank you very simple.
ReplyDeleteIt's working. Thank You.
ReplyDeleteThanks, easy to follow and works great.
ReplyDeleteThank you. This was so helpful. I used it anit worked just like yousaid it would.
ReplyDeletewhy it has to have only 20 keywords ?
ReplyDeletebecause when I check with the spider metatag analyzer its say that my keyword is too weak
It means the keywords Vs the words in relation on your blog homepage is weak.... meaning not related to each other. This is not very important! 20 keywords is all you should use because the web spiders only read 20. Some spiders may even have problems if you have to many.
ReplyDeleteJust tried it. Hope it works in a week or two.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
Great info, Thanks!
ReplyDeleteHi:
ReplyDeleteTried meta tag analyzer and it said it only analyzes up to certain size blog. I tried my mothers blog, which is much smaller, and it analyzed her's but said she had too many urls, like 170 out of 131, or something.
Should I reduce my blog? I can't see how to have less urls. I thought the more links the higher the rank. Don't urls = links?
BTW, I was able to add my meta stuff because of your instructions. Thanks for all your help. I will place your link on my blog. See? Another url.
Don't put to much thought into the warning the meta tag analyzer gives you. Your really only using it to get keywords and to make sure your meta tags in place properly.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much AOW: I did use my own .html editor, free version First Page from Evrsoft, to generate my tag. The SEOCentro link you gave above wouldn't generate a tag for me because it said it only analyzes up to a certain sized blog. Apparently my blog is beyond the limit, somehow.
ReplyDeleteThen by following your suggestions, I decided to try stripping my code of several meta descriptions, leaving only the 3 that you suggested. The generated tag did not work until I did that.
Thanks again.
A big thank you for your help and easy explaination.
ReplyDeleteVERY useful
Amazing Blog site!!! You have done a great job!!!! I will definetly admire what you do for us. Many thanks!!! Keep it up!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
ReplyDeleteThis was really helpful
ReplyDeleteGreetings,
ReplyDeleteI just discovered after composing a message that contained HTML and meta data, that this is not permitted. I feel it is important to see the actual HTML/meta data in context to the error message I receive and therefore hope that by being able to send it to you in an email form, you could assist me with the error message I keep receiving.
Here is the error message:
Error parsing XML, line 21, column 12: Open quote is expected for attribute "{1}" associated with an element type "name".
Warmest regards,
Egmont
